Gerry Stevens | Presenter, Electric Dreams

A cornerstone of Irish broadcasting for over four decades, Gerry Stevens is an enduring voice in the nation’s radio landscape. His illustrious career began in 1982 during the vibrant era of pirate radio, where he cut his teeth on A.R.D. before becoming a staple on “super pirates” Energy 103 and 102.7 KISS FM, and with daytime shows on Q102 commencing in 1985

By 1987, Gerry had transitioned to the national airwaves, joining RTE 2FM to front the Billboard Hot 100 and the cult-classic Night Train. As the Radio broadcast landscape shifted with the legalization of commercial radio in 1989, Gerry was instrumental in the launch of Capital Radio (now FM104) in July 1989, anchoring the mid-morning slot.  This was followed by a defining eleven-year tenure at Dublin’s number 1 market-leading 98FM, where he dominated both Daytime and Drive-Time schedules.

In 2009, Gerry pivoted his expertise toward station strategy, serving as Head of Music for Ireland’s 4FM and shaping the station’s sonic identity. However, in 2017, Gerry faced his greatest challenge, suffering a severe brain haemorrhage and stroke.  What followed was an inspiring eight-year journey of intense rehabilitation.  Demonstrating remarkable fortitude, he turned this adversity into advocacy, launching The Stroke Cast to support fellow survivors and their families.

In June 2025, Gerry made a triumphant return to the microphone. He now hosts Electric Dreams, a masterfully curated showcase of the 1980s. Blending Synth-Pop with “Vintage Voltage,” Gerry brings his signature warmth and expertise back to where it belongs—the airwaves.
