From the pirate radio revolution to leading the UK’s biggest commercial heritage stations, Tony McKenzie’s name is synonymous with world-class radio.
Tony’s journey started in 1984 aboard the Ross Revenge with Radio Caroline, before he made waves in Ireland with Radio Nova. His time in Dublin was a masterclass in adaptability, where he seamlessly navigated the high-pressure transitions of Zoom 103 and Energy 103.
However, it was his shift from the microphone to management that cemented his status as an industry leader. Tony spent a decade shaping the soundscape of Liverpool as Programme Director for Radio City, where he was the architect behind the launches of City Talk, City Gold, and Magic AM.
A sought-after programming strategist, Tony has since held the reins at some of the country’s most prestigious stations. His executive portfolio includes directorships at Hallam FM (Sheffield), Metro Radio (Newcastle), and Real Radio (Yorkshire). Most recently, he brought his vast experience to the Wireless Group, overseeing Peak FM and Pulse FM.
With a career built on passion, innovation, and an undeniable ear for great radio, Tony McKenzie continues to set the standard for professional broadcasting.
