🕊️ Obituary:
Trevor Pyle (RIP), Chairman of Lazer Hits

Trevor Pyle, the visionary Chairman and co-founder of Lazer Hits, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 3, 2025, at the age of 71 after bravely battling a long illness with lung cancer. He was a distinguished writer, documentary producer, creative consultant, and, most recently, the driving force behind the resurrection of the beloved pirate radio spirit.

Trevor dedicated his early career to the craft of communication. He worked for many years as a corporate affairs writer for numerous blue-chip companies, lending his sharp perspective to complex corporate messaging.

A Career Defined by Insight and Creativity

Trevor’s passion extended far beyond the corporate world. As an independent production company, he co-produced, directed, and scripted several insightful documentaries for ITV and Channel 4. His work covered a remarkable range of subjects, from the lives of women police officers and unlicensed mini-cab drivers to the profound tragedy of child HIV victims in Romania and the economic fate of Caribbean banana producers navigating the World Trade Organisation. His ability to tell diverse, impactful stories was a hallmark of his professional life.

In more recent times, Trevor served as a ministerial speechwriter, showcasing his skill in high-stakes communication. He also co-hosted The Third Eye radio programme alongside presenter and psychic Susie Quinnell, and notably created and ran a video production capability within a government department before establishing himself as a sought-after creative consultant.

The Rebirth of a Radio Legend

Trevor’s lasting legacy will be the creation of Lazer Hits. Together with Ray Anderson, the original owner of the legendary 1980s offshore station Laser Hot Hits, Trevor lamented the demise of the pirate radio station. They shared a profound disenchantment with the quality of internet imitators and were united by a powerful goal: to resurrect the energetic format and essence of the original to the airwaves.

Their vision for the new Lazer Hits was to deliver an all-American Energetic Sound in a contemporary style, distinguishing it from mere copies. Trevor successfully helped create a station filled with nostalgia for baby boomers while offering a fresh, exciting experience for new Generation Z and Alpha listeners rediscovering the wonderful hits of the ’60s, ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s. He firmly believed that, much like the resurgence of vinyl, the energy and delivery of the golden age of radio would be there for a new generation to experience for the very first time.

Trevor Pyle’s commitment, creativity, and tireless effort ensured that the spirit of high-seas radio would continue to thrive, inspiring listeners old and new.

All of us here at LAZER HITS who worked alongside Trevor miss him greatly and send our deepest sympathy to son and daughter and extended family and friends.
